Wallet Recovery Resources
“Don’t panic!”
Those comforting words that made “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy” a Galactic bestseller in Douglas Adams’ fiction book of the same name.
That is the same sense of comfort we hope you feel from this site. We are here to help you recover your Bitcoin.
If you are here because you read our website address from a Bitcoin Recovery Tag, please relax a little and we will get you through this.
That tag and the seed word backup device it was attached to are what you need to restore your hardware wallet and gain access to your Bitcoin.
Step 1: Take Inventory
If you have all four of the following:
- Original Hardware wallet (i.e. Trezor, Ledger, ColdCard, etc.)
- Seed Word Backup Device (Cypherwheel, CryptoSteel, BillFodl, etc.)
- Bitcoin Recovery Tag
- Any additional security passphrase or PIN
Then your recovery is very easy. You just need to follow your hardware wallet manufacturer’s recovery instructions. Click on the appropriate link below.
Trezor
ColdCard
Ledger
Bitbox
Cobo Wallet
If you do not have access to the original wallet, continue to step #2.
Step 2: Find the Wallet Data Field
If that wallet is still being produced, then the easiest option is to purchase a new one and follow that manufacturer’s recovery instructions.
If it is not still being manufactured then you will need to follow a more complex process. Continue to step #3.
Step 3: Use Electrum to Complete Recovery
- Verify you trust your computer, at the very least do a full virus scan before proceeding.
- Download and install Electrum
- Follow their instructions here.
But it’s ok, because you prepared for this. You have your seed words securely backed up, and you have the information you need from your Bitcoin Wallet Recovery Tag.
Additional Recovery Resources
This is not the only method available to recover your Bitcoin. If you don’t like this method or it is not successful, here are some other options.
